Council Journal Club
Description
Target
Audience: All Lee Memorial Health System nursing staff.
Purpose:
The Nursing Research Council Journal Club strives to introduce
pertinent nursing research to interested nurses, supporting and
developing staff's research skills to ultimately enrich nursing
practice.
Educational
Objectives:

To enhance
nurses' knowledge of the research process.

To enhance
nurses' ability to critically evaluate published nursing
research.
-
To develop
an awareness of current nursing research studies.
-
To
evaluate current practice based on evidence-based nursing
research results.
-
To share
information with other nursing staff members.
-
To
motivate nurses to participate in evidence-based practice
and/or nursing research projects at LMHS
-
To develop
and enhance critical thinking skills.
Desired
outcomes: The desired outcome is to improve nurses'
understanding in developing evidence-based practice and
conducting primary nursing research.
Format:
Meetings.
Frequency
of meetings: As Scheduled.
Place:
Various locations throughout LMHS.
Reading
assignments: The journal article to be reviewed will be
available the first business day of each month.

Hard
copies of monthly articles may also be obtained from the ICU
Clinical Educator.
Available
credits: Application has been made to earn one (1) contact hour for
each Journal Club meeting attended.
