Library Remote-Access Databases
The Medical
Library at Lee Memorial Health System provides remote access to
its electronic resources to LMHS employees and to physicians on
staff. Some of the databases require passwords. Contact any of
our branches to obtain you IDs and passwords. (No passwords are
needed when using library computers or NetAccess connection.)

PubMed
The National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database of
medical, nursing, dental and veterinary articles published in
professional journals world-wide.
MedlinePlus
A goldmine of health information from the National Library
of Medicine for health professionals and for consumers. It
includes information on diseases, medications, clinical trials,
hospitals, physicians, and medical news.

National Cancer Institute
Cancer-related health information for professionals and for
consumers in English and in Spanish.
FreeMedicalJournals.com
Private Internet site, which promotes and endorses free
access to full-text medical journals. Articles are voluntarily
supplied by publishers, so the selection is not always
comprehensive. Examples of available journals: British Medical
Journal; CA - A Cancer Journal for Clinicians; Science;
Circulation; Journal of Clinical Investigation; Antimicrobial
Agents & Chemotherapy.

Free full-text articles from a growing PubMed collection.
They are also linkable from OVID.

following are proprietary databases, which require passwords:
OVID
Interlinked databases: bibliographic (Medline, HealthStar,
Cancerlit); Evidence-Based Medicine databases; Full-text medical
journals; Full-text medical books.
ProQuest
Electronic collection of nursing, medical and allied health
full-text journals, which uses information provided by
Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).
MD
Consult
MD Consult provides access to daily medical news, drug
information, full-text medical books, journals and yearbooks,
practice guidelines, CME modules and patients handouts in
English and in Spanish. It also offers Palm or Pocket PC device
connectivity, so patron is able to record and initiate searches
from their handheld device; receive the daily feeds of medical
news; weekly drug updates, and abstracts of the articles from
hundreds of medical journals.
