NURSING
EDUCATION:

Nursing Internship Program

Q. What is the nursing internship program?
A. The nursing internship programs are designed to facilitate the transition from graduate nurse to practicing nurse by providing the framework for clinical knowledge and skills development necessary in the development of a professional leadership role. These programs enable the nursing intern to balance personal and professional growth. In addition, the program also provides experienced nurses who are changing specialties an opportunity to become acclimated to the acute care setting, or to advance their careers in a given specialty. The intern is paid while completing the necessary classroom and clinical experiences.

  • Two references:
          - one from a clinical instructor, click here to print the "Instructor Reference Form".
          - one from a clinical nurse manager or supervisor of past/current employment. This can be a letter or brief statement about your work performance.

  • Submit a one-page letter to the Internship Coordinator delineating specific goals for your professional development. Include your motivation for application to this program as well as methods for achieving your goals. Address your plans for continuing your education.

  • You will be contacted by the Nurse Recruiter or Internship Coordinator to discuss your preferences for the internship program.

  • You will undergo the behavioral screening that may be conducted over the phone by either the nurse recruiter or internship coordinator.
