All-Star Total Joint Center
Innovations in Surgery
The All-Star Total Joint Center at Lee Memorial Hospital features a seasoned staff of nurses, physical therapists, case managers, local orthopedic surgeons and more.
The Center has a baseball theme, and patients are encouraged to wear shorts and T-shirts instead of gowns. Patients receive a newsletter each morning detailing the day's activities. They eat their meals together and participate in group physical therapy.
The All-Star Total Joint Center covers all of the bases for patients, beginning with a preoperative class about the procedure, where each patient receives a Total Joint Replacement Guidebook with information about their surgery. After discharge, each patient receives a follow-up phone call to check on his or her progress. Six to eight weeks after discharge patients and their family members are invited to a "reunion" lunch where they have the opportunity to talk about their experience.
