Our Team
Welcome to the online home
of The Bariatric Center of Lee Memorial Health System. This
combined outpatient and
hospital-based service is conveniently located to serve Lee
County and the surrounding communities.
Hospitals around the
country are recognizing the demand for surgical weight loss
programs. Morbid obesity, defined as being 100 pounds or more
above your ideal weight, is the No. 2 preventable cause of
death in the United States.
Along with the
psychological impact of morbid obesity, there are significant
health issues that effect the body's mechanical and metabolic
functions. These other health issues affect nearly every organ
in the body and produce serious illnesses, including diabetes,
heart disease, gall bladder disease, gastroesophageal reflux
disease, sleep apnea, respiratory insufficiency, high
cholesterol, and arthritic symptoms in weight-bearing joints,
just to name a few.
