Radiology consists
of several medical imaging procedures to help diagnose injuries
and/or diseases. Some of the most common forms of imaging are
X-rays, ultrasounds and MRIs, or magnetic resonance imaging.
In 2007, Lee Memorial
Health System purchased its first 64-slice CT scanner at
HealthPark Medical Center.
The 64-slice scanner produces three-dimensional images of the
heart, which helps clinicians to diagnose coronary artery
disease, sometimes in much earlier stages. There will be two
additional 64-slice scanners, as well as a brand new,
state-of-the-art Radiology department, at
Gulf Coast Medical Center.
