2nd Annual Island Pirate Fest & Pirates
Ball
February 8, 2012
The
Original Bert’s Bar & Seafood Grill, is pleased to announce the 2nd
Annual Island Pirate Fest & Pirates Ball to benefit “From Our Hearts”
charity. The public is invited join the fun and help wage the war on
breast cancer. One hundred percent of the funds that are raised from
the auctions, raffles, and games will go to “From Our Hearts” a Pine
Island Charity whose goal is to make breast cancer care available to
everyone, not just those who can afford health insurance.
The
Island Pirate Fest will begin on Friday, February 10th with the Parade
of Mermaids. The Pirate’s Ball will be held on Saturday, February 11th
and the Pirate’s Live Auction will be held on Sunday, February 12 at
12:30pm at Bert’s Bar & Seafood Grill, 4271 Pine Island Rd, in the heart
of Matlacha. Bert’s is the host of the annual event, has a 70 year plus
history, wide menu variety and weekly live entertainment. Attendees will
enjoy raffles, games, entertainment, food, drink specials, and contests

Singing Valentines

they hit the links for the 14th annual Minnesota Twins
Celebrity Classic to benefit Lee Memorial Health System’s Regional
Cancer Center. The tournament takes place
at the exclusive Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida.
Participants will enjoy
lunch, dinner, on-course refreshments and the chance to join Minnesota
Twins players on one of the most challenging and beautiful courses in
our area. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on travel,

Tennis Classic
March 2&3, 2012
Fifteen of the worlds
top touring tennis pros who have titled at Wimbledon, the U.S.
Open, The French Open, and the Olympics will return to Southwest
Florida on March 2-3, 2012 at Bonita Bay Club to lend their
swings in the fight against pediatric cancer for the Fifth
Annual FineMark National Bank & Trust Tour Players Classic. The
schedule includes a pro-marquis challenge with both mixed and
men’s doubles matches, a pro-am, a kids’ cup challenge,
mini-clinics, and a gala dinner dance and auction. Ticket prices
range from $50 for the kids cup challenge and lunch with the
pros, to $200 for the gala dinner dance. Proceeds from the event
will support Barbara’s Friends and a new pediatric pharmacy
which is planned in the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida
136-bed, 292,000 square foot expansion. For details,

Pelican
Preserve Corvettes on the Gulf Car Show

Join Pelican Preserve and Corvettes on the
Gulf, in partnership with Lee Memorial Health System Foundation, for a Car/Truck/Motorcycle show which will take place on at Pelican Preserve, 10571 Veneto Drive, Fort Myers,
Fla. Live entertainment, food, door prizes and a chance drawing will
highlight the day. Awards will be given out, including more than 50 Best
of Show and more than 20 Best of Show and Club participation.
Proceeds from this event benefit The
Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Registration on the day of the show runs from 9 a.m. until
noon. Judging begins at 11 a.m., and awards will be presented at
approximately 3 p.m. Mail-in registration ends on Feb. 12. For more

Hooter to Hooters Half Marathon
March 4, 2012
The course
begins at Hooters on Cleveland Ave. proceeds down Colonial onto
McGregor Blvd. through the beautiful neighborhoods along the
Caloosahatchee River, then continues through the downtown River
District over the Edison Bridge and back. It then proceeds to
the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox spring training
stadium, City of Palms Park and then continues south to the
Edison Mall and to Hooters. Part of the race proceeds will be
donated to Barbara’s Friends – The Children’s Hospital Cancer
