Lee Memorial Health Systems

State of the Art Technology

Dr. Eric Eskioglu, an endovascular surgeon for Lee Memorial Health System, leads a highly-skilled team at the new state-of-the-art Endovascular Suite located at HealthPark Medical Center. The Center provides patients with some of the most progressive endovascular treatment today.

TechnologyDr. Eskioglu is the only surgeon between Naples and Tampa who performs non-invasive endovascular surgery and is one of only about 75 qualified neurosurgeons in the country. He repairs aneurysms by inserting a long, thin plastic tube called a catheter into an artery in the groin and after then advancing it to the aneurysm, is able to make the repair and remove the patient from a potentially life-threatening situation.

“Every aneurysm is like a fingerprint, it is unique and different to each person,” explains Eskioglu. “Once I have the catheter in position, I have to consider the shape and size of the aneurysm and then decide which of the 300 different shapes and sizes of coils I will use to make the repair.”

The new Endovascular Suite features Siemens hi-tech equipment and software that produces high-resolution 3-D images for better viewing during diagnostics and procedures. Amazingly, many of Dr. Eskioglu’s patients don’t even feel like they’ve had surgery and many elect to go home the following day.
