Weight Loss Through Challenges-Meagan's Story
Air Date: 1/11/06

Even though you might know it's not a healthy way to live, more than 50% of Americans are overweight.

Meagan Abner has overcome many challenges in life and 5 months ago she decided she was tired of being overweight and created a plan to change the way she looked and felt. "I have lost 32 pounds in three months. I feel excited. I'm so proud of myself."

Family physician David Driesbach says "Meagan's story is just absolutely incredible because Meagan is a perfect example of what people can do when they really put their mind to it and they really have a desire to want to have an accomplished goal."

Fitness club owner Troy Demond says that exercise is the key component to any successful weight loss program, but you also need determination & will power. Meagan walks 5 days per week and has not missed a session in over 4 months. "Meagan is inspiring, she's tenacious, and she's determined to complete this exercise program. And if more people like you and I would take advantage of those traits, we would be successful as well."

After seeing what she was able to do for herself, Meagan is eager to share weight loss secrets with her family. "I think that my Mom could learn not to touch any cookies, which she did, and just to be strong."

Instead of eating junk food and pizza Meagan is now choosing healthier foods like salads, fruits and vegetables to keep her weight down and her energy up.
