Body Age
January13, 2009

Years of wear and tear can do a number on anyone’s body, especially if exercising and eating healthy have not been important to you. But how do you find out if you have the body of a much older person? One local test could fill you in.

“The categories that we do are body composition, we do flexibility, we do strength and then we do a pretty comprehensive questionnaire of heart disease. How susceptible are you to heart disease, diabetes, we ask nutrition facts. All of this goes into the system and it kind of basically gives you risk factors for those things and it gives you a comprehensive idea of what kind of shape you are in,” says exercise specialist Jarvis Jolly.

The body age assessment he is speaking of can also provide a person with three important numbers. “It will give you three ages. The first is your actual age. At the end of the test it will give you your perceived body age. And then it will give you an attainable body age that with the recommendations and if you do things right.”

Jarvis adds that many people are surprised to learn they have the body of an older person. The good news is the assessment can give you tips on improving your overall fitness and serve as a reason to get healthy. “It could be a factor for motivation to get you going to kind of give you a great idea of where you are and what you need to do.”

The body age assessment test is fairly simple to complete. It can also provide your trainer or exercise specialist with information to develop a better fitness plan for you. Local exercise specialists say they majority of their clients have issues with flexibility and nutrition.
