Sleep Center Opening
January 25, 2009 |
The National Sleep Foundation recommends getting between seven to nine hours of
sleep each night. However, many people still don’t feel rested
after a full night’s
sleep.
The system director for Plantation Outpatient Center, Alan Cunningham says, “Even
if they sleep all night long they say ‘hey I get eight to ten hours of sleep at
night but I still just drag through the day and I’m so tired.’ Well those are good
candidates to bring into the lab and do an evaluation and find out if there are
underlying problems.”
Now area patients don’t have to check into the hospital to undergo a sleep study.
On January 26th, the doors open at a new outpatient facility dedicated to sleep
disorders. “This particular environment provides a very comfortable, safe environment
for them to be more approachable, if you will. But the services are identical,
they provide the same service, same physicians, same equipment, it’s just that now
taking that service and putting it in a free-standing outpatient area. The accessibility
is much easier and I think it provides a great service for the public,” says Cunningham.
The outpatient center also has departments dedicated to neurodiagnostics and lab
work. |
