Green Light Laser
February 7, 2008

Millions of American men suffer from symptoms related to an enlarged prostate. Dr. Steven Paletsky is a urologist who deals with the conditions and symptoms of enlarged prostates regularly. He says, “It’s a weak urinary stream. It’s getting up very frequently at nighttime. It’s difficulty in getting your stream started.” But he says those symptoms are not ones you have to live with forever. “It’s important for men to realize that they do have problems and there is an answer to these problems. An enlarged prostate is not something that most men have to live with on a long term basis. There are treatments out there that really work well.” One of those treatments that Dr. Paletsky has found most successful is called the Green Light Laser. “The laser is a very unique instrument. What it does is it opens up the channel. It basically vaporizes the tissue so it vanishes, giving rise to a clearer opening into the urinary system.” The technology of the Green Light Laser helps make the procedure and recovery time easier for the patient. “The green light laser is an outpatient procedure. It just takes about 20 to 30 minutes to do on the average and patients can go home and enjoy a full functioning life the following day,” says Dr. Paletsky. The ideal candidates for Green Light Laser procedures are men who find it difficult to urinate due to an enlarged prostate. Talk with your physician or urologist to see if the procedure is right for you. Last year about 6.4 million American men were diagnosed with enlarged prostates.
