Water aerobic programs have been making a splash around the country and right in here in Southwest Florida.

H2U Supervisor Dena Kilgus explains that "Water aerobics is a wonderful form of exercise for people with rheumatoid arthritis, people who have gone through any type of joint surgery, such as knee surgery or hip surgery. It doesn't put as much stress on those areas."

As supervisor for H2U, Dena gets to see first hand how water aerobics is helping people like Maysie Petit. "I have kidney disease and I have to keep moving. It's wonderful exercise and it makes everyone feel young. As young as they can feel is the important thing."

H2U member Elaine Coghlan has rheumatoid arthritis and found other forms of exercise were not an option for her. That was until she started taking this 1-hour class about 4 and a half years ago. And her doctors are amazed. "Even though I'm overweight my heart rate is slow. My bone density has actually increased. My rheumatologist is extremely pleased."

Elaine says whether you are looking to improve fitness, lose weight, rehabilitate from an injury, or just to have fun, water aerobics may be a great solution for you. "Sign up and jump in, it's easy. You just feel so fantastic."

The cost to join H2U is $15 a year. For more information you can call H2U at 239-939-8373.
