If you're having a child for the first time, you may be overwhelmed by questions and fears of not knowing what to expect.
New mom Kasey Moss found that having a baby is a truly labor of love. "Labor was 25 hours, long but it was worth it all."
Kasey felt it was important for her and her fiancé to attend birthing classes before their daughter was born. The 5-week course proved to be extremely helpful. He says "there was no surprises or if or ands, it was what do you know? Just like she said. And it was great. I would do it again."
Jesson's excited because he was prepared thanks to the birthing classes, which covered all kinds of issues surrounding childbirth. Childbirth educator Patti Richards says that "anything you want to know about labor and some things maybe you don't want to know about labor. We take a tour of the labor unit so the mom's and the coaches will be familiar."
And just in case they forget anything every coach is given a playbook to take with them for the big event. Jesson tells us he remembered everything, used the techniques and although Kasey's labor was long, things went well. "I don't think there's a word for how I feel, but I know that there is a special person in my arms right now that makes a world of difference."
The common goal of all birthing classes is to provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need to give birth.
Typically, new parents take birthing classes around the third trimester of pregnancy. If you would like more information or a schedule of classes, you can call 239-768-8361.
