Mountains of myths abound for pregnant women, causing much confusion in regards to what is or is not safe to do during pregnancy.
Could it be possible that babies born with a full head of hair are the cause of their mother's heartburn? Gina Hendershot believes that it just might be the case. "I don't know if it's true, but with my son I had heartburn very bad. Where it would wake me up and my head felt like it would explode and he had a lot of hair."
Many women have been told not to take hot baths when they're pregnant. Obstetrician Richard Bloy says, "You can take a hot tub bath up to about 100 degrees, if you feel beads up sweat on your fore-head, you should get out."
Dr. Bloy also says that some have even wondered about the effects of nail polish while pregnant. "Nail color is perfectly fine, but acrylic nails are dangerous. They can transmit chemicals right through the nail into the skin, so you should avoid them."
Gina says that once she started reading up on pregnancy myths, she started to be extremely careful about what she put in her body. "There is that one myth, if you want to go into labor you should take Castor Oil, I went online to look it up and they said don't do that, it's actually really dangerous."
And for those concerned with looking their best through their months of pregnancy, Doctor Bloy ensures us that dying your hair will not hurt your baby.
If you are ever confused about what you should or should not do while pregnant, always be sure to ask your doctor.
