"Health, Happiness-You"-also known, as H2U is a membership program designed to meet the unique health needs of people age 50 and older.

H2U volunteer Joan McKerness explains that it's called Mah Jong and it's a game of skill, intelligence, calculation and luck. "It's an old Chinese game and it's been very Americanized. It helps the mind, it helps us try to remember things."

Mah Jong is similar to the card game gin rummy in that both games involve selecting or discarding units, tiles in one case, cards in the other, to score points by forming groups of similar units. It's both fun and challenging.

H2U Member, Donna Prendota says "You do not even think of anything else because you are so busy concentrating on the game, and it does get intense but it's a wonderful release, it truly is."

This group meets on Tuesday mornings and play from 10:00 a.m. until Noon. And new people are always welcome. Another H2U member says, "Everyone's very receptive to a new person. I was new shortly, a short time ago and I was well received and learning and playing and it's fun."

Joan says it's a fun game for both men and women to play..but where are the men? "We would like to know that too."

Iris Bennett also says that "I've never seen one here. I don't know if they play, but I guess they do."

What do you say men? Up for the challenge? Show these ladies that you're not afraid of a little competition.

You can Join H2U for only $15 a year, for more information you can call 239-939-8373.
