Living Healthy With Menopause
April 23, 2007

At this very minute in America, millions of women are either already in or are approaching their menopausal years.

The most common age range that a woman goes through menopause is 50 to 51. "Fifty point five is what the studies have shown, but of course you have some women that can go through early menopause and it can start as early as 35," says Gynecologist William Rincon.

Barbara Rosen says, "If you could have a little warning of what was down the road ahead for you and it just took slight adjustments I think you would do it."

Many women are warned about the potential side effects that menopause can bring and exercising can help --- before, during and after menopause. "As you know exercise puts your body and your mind at a healthier state, so if you're healthy then you can combat any of those side effects of menopause," advises Dr. Rincon.

On average, women gain about a pound a year during the years leading up to menopause, so eating right and exercising will always help you with your changing body during menopause. "You feel better, you're healthier, you're stronger so those symptoms are going to be lessoned if you have a healthy body, " says Dr. Rincon.

The optimal goal is for you to start an exercise program now. No matter what your age or stage regarding menopause, you should try exercising 30 minutes to an hour at least four times per week.

And it's always recommended that you check with your doctor before you begin any regular exercise program.
