Foods and Prostate Cancer
April 24, 2009

Reducing your risk of prostate cancer could be as simple as watching what you eat everyday.

“In discussing prevention, we certainly have to mention a few things. It’s been found that tomatoes may prevent prostate cancer. Now, there’s conflicting data, but most people in the field do seem to confer that tomatoes decrease the risk,” says Dr. Barry Blitz, a urologist on the medical staff of Lee Memorial Health System. “Green tea to some extent. Broccoli, that’s good for a lot of things too, in addition, soy products may have a protective benefit as well.” A little seafood could also do the trick or a daily dose of Omega-3. “It seems to be protective from a variety of cancers, including prostate cancer,” adds Dr. Blitz.

Just a few simple items on your dinner table, that could make the difference in the longevity of your life. It’s always important to consult your doctor when it comes to dietary changes, concerns, or questions.
