As National Nurses Week comes to a close for 2007, we are reminded that our country's nurses are extremely dedicated to their profession.
Nursing Assistant Tema Aguilo say, "I've always, always wanted to be a nurse. I can remember as far back as 8 years old. It just makes me feel good, I love taking care of people."
Gulf Coast Hospital Pediatrics Registered Nurse, Lani Sulzbach adds, "I think it's been the most rewarding thing that I've ever done in my life is working with the children." From children to newborns, the tiniest patients are being cared for by nurses who love what they do.
Allison Flinn, Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse says, "It's so exciting, challenging, rewarding, it's one of the best times in a woman's life and you're right there helping them, supporting them, taking care of the babies, it's just incredible."
And you can also take part in Nurse Appreciation Week. It's really pretty easy. All you have to do is walk up to a nurse you know and say thank you for a job well done. You may be surprised to learn that you've already made a big difference in their life. "The parents, you know, they trust you, they put their children in your hands and that's a big thing you know for us, I take pride in that, we take the best care that we can, " says Lani Sulzbach.
A special thanks to nurses everywhere! President Nixon proclaimed a National Nurses Week back in 1974. It always concludes on May 12th, which is the birth date of Florence Nightingale whom many consider to be the founder of modern nursing.
