According to the U.S. Census Bureau nearly 20% of our national population is disabled
in some form. In today’s Health Matters John Biffar follows up on our series with
the family and volunteers who make Special Equestrians possible.
SPECIAL EQUESTRIANS IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES THERAPY THROUGH HORSEBACK
RIDING TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND A RANGE OF DISORDERS.
I think what's most inspiring is just watching the growth of each child or adult,
and everyone grows in their own way. Each child or adult takes something away that
might be a little bit different.”
THE FAMILY EFFORT MAKES IT ALL POSSIBLE.WHILE JAN DEDICATES HER PERSONAL TIME AS
A VOLUNTEER, HER HUSBAND PROMOTES THE THERAPY IN HIS ORTHOPEDIC OFFICE.
Special equestrians is a special organization dedicated to for the caring and helping
in moving people forward in therapeutic riding.”
THE FIFERS EVEN HOUSE THE RIDING FACILITY IN THE BACKYARD OF THEIR OWN 10 ACRE-LOT.
THIS MEANS A LOT OF SUPPORT IS NEEDED TO KEEP UP WITH THE HORSES AND STUDENTS.
This is one of the most rewarding and beneficial programs I think I’ve ever been
involved with.”
