TCH Christmas
December 25, 2008

From jingle bells to Santa Clause, the patients at The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida got to celebrate Christmas a little early this year.  “We’re here today to give back to some kids who are going through some trials and tribulations in their life right now it’s very important to put a smile on their face and keep them in good spirits,” says one volunteer.  Another added, “I love kids so just to see kids with a smile on their face is fun.”  For the past seven years volunteers with the Mike and Minny and Friends Foundation have helped put on a Christmas party complete with food, fun and of course presents.  “It’s just fun to do something for somebody.   It’s fun we love it,” says Mike Hennings, the co-founder if the Mike and Minny and Friends Foundation.  Area all-star athletes are also happy to join Mike in spreading cheer to the brave little patients.  “It’s fun to get out and have fun with them for a little bit.  (01:57:30) It’s a good feeling,” says Ft. Myers Miracle player Tommy Watkins.  Chirs Wallace is the quarterback for the Florida Firecats arena football team.  He says he really enjoys spending time with the patients during the holidays.  “You just put them in your prayers at night.  I know these doctors and this hospital are doing a fine job we’re just here to play our part.”  To learn how you can volunteer or donate to programs that benefit The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, you can log onto www.LeeMemorial.org.  Pinchers restaurants also held December toy drives to provide dozens of holiday gifts for Children’s Hospital patients.
