June 2, the new Lee Convenient Care Walk-in Medical Center opened
its doors for area residents.
The new Lee Convenient Care (LCC) office is located at Pine
Island and Pondella roads, in between the Super Target shopping
plaza and Del Prado Blvd.
“Lee Convenient Care centers provide an excellent alternative to
hospital ERs for minor emergencies,” says Dr. Avra Bowers, a board
certified physician with Lee Convenient Care. “Our nurses and
physicians are trained to treat a variety of non-life-threatening
emergencies, such as sprains, fractures, lacerations, abrasions,
burns and eye injuries for both children and adults.”

times are usually much shorter than those at hospital emergency
rooms. “We’ve really improved our work-flow processes, and we’ve
been able to generally keep a patient’s ‘door-to-door’ time to one
and a half hours or less in season,” Dr. Bowers says. “In the
off-season months, it’s usually an hour or less.”
Lee Convenient Care also can be a good option when patients are
unable to get in to see their primary care physicians, or for those
who don’t have a regular doctor. “In addition to caring for minor
emergencies, we treat a variety of common medical problems, such as
sore throats, flu, colds, rashes, earaches and infections,” Dr.
Bowers says. “We also perform physicals and other tests for school
Extended hours provide an extra measure of convenience. The
