Fungal Meningitis Outbreak

Fungal Meningistis Outbreak In October 2012, we informed our patients impacted by a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory with regard to products distributed by New England Compounding Center (NECC) and used at Lee Memorial Health System.

There is no evidence that our patients are at risk from exposure to these products. As part of your routine care, you have been and/or continue to be monitored in regard to the risk of infection.

Symptoms of possible infections may include fever: swelling, increasing pain, redness, chest pain or drainage from the surgical site. If you show signs of infection or have additional questions, contact us at 239-343-6490 or your primary care provider immediately.

The Florida Department of Health will continue to monitor the situation and update their website at http://newsroom.doh.state.fl.us/. They have set up a toll-free hotline at 1-866-523-7339 for those who may have additional questions.
