Target Audience:
All Lee Memorial Health System nursing
staff
Purpose: The CNRJC strives to
introduce nursing and medical research that focuses on the
cardiovascular system and patient education to enrich the
practice of cardiovascular nursing.
Educational Objectives:
- To enhance nurse knowledge of the
research process.
- To enhance nurses’ ability to
critically evaluate published research.
- To develop an awareness of current
research studies.
- To evaluate current practice based
on evidence-based research results.
- To further develop and enhance
critical thinking skills.
- To enable nurses in ancillary
areas with small staff bases an opportunity to participate
online in a journal club that focuses on their speciality.
- To motivate nurses to participate
in evidence-based practice and/or nursing research projects
at LMHS.
Desired outcomes:
The desired outcome is to improve nurses’
understanding of developing evidence-based practice and
conduction nursing research.
Format:
On-line Journal Club participation of two
weeks in duration. CVS nurses will receive an e-mail informing
them of the dates for participation, how to access the link to
the article, and will include an attachment with definition of
terms, explanation of article highlights and questions for
discussion.
Frequency of meetings:
As scheduled by the CVS journal club
coordinators.
Place:
On-line via e-mail discussion.
Reading assignments:
A link to the journal article to be reviewed will be posted on
the Medical Library WEB page.
Available credits:
One credit hour for each on-line journal club actively
participated in as evidenced by e-mail discussions of article as
outlined in the e-mail attachment questions and discussion
points forwarded to staff.
