Nursing Internship Program
FAQs
Q. How do I apply for an
internship program?
A. The process is simple. Whether you are not currently a Lee
Memorial Health System employee, or are a current LMHS employee you
will need to:
-
Submit an application
on-line at
www.leememorial.org.
Applications are only accepted between the
1st and 5th of each month.
Note: To apply to a RN/LPN intern position, use the following
steps:
Employment > Search
Jobs > Areas of interest: select nursing > Locations: select all
locations > Shift: select all shifts > Keyword: Intern
-
You will be contacted by
the Nurse Recruiter or Internship Assistant to schedule a
face-to-face interview with a Nurse Recruiter and to discuss your
preferences for the internship program.
-
In addition, expect to
schedule an appointment for face-to-face interview with a panel
of Nursing Unit Directors, who will work with the Nurse
Recruiter to assist in the selection and hiring process.
-
You will be required to
submit a copy of your academic transcripts from all schools of
nursing that you have attended, as well as a copy of your
current Florida Nursing License.
Q. How long is the
internship program?
A. The length of the program varies with each internship program
and the type of nursing specialty. Each program has its own unique
combination of classroom, simulation lab, and clinical experience
with a Clinical Coach. The exact length of the internship is also
dependent on the intern candidate's individualized learning needs.
Q. What are the eligibility
criteria to enter the program?
-
External candidates
(non-LMHS employees) must be a graduate of an NLN-approved
school of nursing and have a current Florida Nursing License.
-
Internal candidates (LMHS
employees) who are graduating from nursing school must obtain
NCLEX within 60 days of graduation. LMHS employees who are
graduating may apply online for an intern position, but cannot
start the Internship program until NCLEX is completed and a
Florida Nursing License is held.
-
LPNs must provide
documentation of the
completion of a 30 hour IV Therapy course from a provider
approved by the Florida Board of Nursing before entering any internship program.
Q. Do I have to sign a
contract to enter an internship program?
A. Yes, each internship program has an agreement that must be signed
on the first day of the program. It indicates that you will
continue employment at LMHS for a specific length of time, or you
may be required to repay a prorated sum of the contract.
