NURSING
EDUCATION:
Nursing Orientation
We recognize the invaluable
benefits of supporting our newly hired nurses to reach their
full potential. Once hired, all of our nurses complete the
Performance Based Development System (PBDS)
assessment. This helps each nurse to identify areas where they
need to increase their knowledge or skills and provides us with a clear
beginning for your individualized orientation program.
-
After completion of the
hospital nursing orientation, an individualized action plan
is developed based upon findings from your
PBDS
assessment. This, along with the unit specific orientation,
is the basis for your individual orientation program.
-
Each nurse is assigned
a
Clinical Coach to facilitate a smooth transition. The
Clinical Coach is a fellow nurse on their unit, so they are
available to offer support and information even after
completion of the program.
-
Unit-based
Clinical
Educators assist the nurse and their Clinical Coach in
planning, reviewing and assessing the process of the
individual orientation program.
