Evaluation With Our
Team of Experts
An evaluation usually involves a series of
visits over a four-week period. Lee Memory Care staff are
specialists in neurology (disorders of the brain and nervous
system). They conduct a range of tests in order to make a
precise diagnosis.
The
Neurologist,
Douglas Newland, M.D.,
takes a complete medical history and performs a physical
examination to test neurological responses such as reflexes and
motor skills. This exam may also include laboratory tests and
neuro-imaging tests such as electroencephalogram (EEG) and
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The Geratrician,
Michael Raab, M.D., takes a complete medical history and
performs a physical examination. This may also include
laboratory tests and neuro-imaging tests such as
electroencephalogram (EEG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The Neuropsychologist,
Tanja Mani, Ph.D.,
does a complete neuropsychological evaluation.
This typically involves a history of the problem, as well as
cognitive testing of areas including memory, language, and
executive functions. This exam is sensitive to the earliest
signs of memory and other cognitive deficits associated with
Alzheimer's and other dementias.
The Nurse Practitioner,
Judith Anne Petrin,
ARNP, does the M.D.'s medication management and follow up care.
Anne is also available to answer any questions you may still
have.
The case manager,
Michelette Keeler,
interviews family members to determine coping strategies and
resources needed.
After the tests are
completed, the doctors meet with the patient and a family
member(s) for the final diagnosis and establish a treatment
plan, if necessary.
