Cancer Data Services
The Cancer Data Services office, located in the Patty Berg
Cancer Center, is responsible for the tumor registry and
coordinates the Cancer Committee and the Tumor Board
Conferences.
The Tumor Registry is a collection of information on all cancer
patients seen at the Center, which in turn is used for research
and education. The Tumor Registry also provides lifetime
follow-up of cancer patients who are initially diagnosed and/or
treated at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center.
Clinical trials offer cancer patients access to all available
research trials. Eligibility review is done on-site.
Outpatient Services
The Patty Berg Cancer Center offers a wide range of treatments
to aggressively fight this tough disease.
Outpatient services, which provide a convenient way for patients
to receive treatment and return home, include surgery,
chemotherapy, and blood transfusions.
Support Groups
The Patty Berg Cancer Center treats not only the disease, but
also the whole person. Our approach is patient- centered and
family-oriented. Meetings are held at the Center where
participants are encouraged to share their feelings and
experiences with others. These groups provide a safe and
supportive opportunity to explore emotions and to enhance coping
skills. The Cancer Support Group is open to anyone who has been
touched by cancer. The Breast Cancer and the Man-To-Man Support
groups also meet at the Center. "Strength for Caring" workshops
for caregivers of cancer patients are held quarterly. Lymphedema
support group addresses the educational and emotional issues
related to this condition.
Screening and Education
Throughout the year, The Patty Berg Cancer Center is actively
involved in offering numerous cancer screenings, and providing
free information on the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and
treatment of cancer.
