NATIONAL ALCOHOL SCREENING DAY
This is a national, one-day outreach, education and screening event
conducted by various entities in a community. It is a program that
provides free, confidential screening for alcohol problems, public
education and if necessary referrals to treatment. It's focus on
alcohol and health provides information about alcohol using a
non-stigmatizing theme that is relevant for anyone who drinks
alcohol. Usually National Alcohol Screening Day is the first Thursday of April.
Currently nearly 14 million Americans-1 in every 13 adults-abuse
alcohol or are alcoholic. Several million more engage in risky
drinking that could lead to alcohol problems.
