August Tips of the Month: Back to School
SafetyAugust is
back to school time for Lee County. Transportation to and from
school whether on the school bus, by foot, bicycle or by car, is
a high risk part of the day commonly overlooked in the
excitement of starting the new school year. As school year
approaches it is important for families to develop and review a
safety plan. Review basic safety rules for walking, biking, or
riding to school in a car or bus and decide what will be done in
case of an emergency.
If your child is walking or
riding a bicycle to school it is very important that you know
the route. Walk or ride the route with the child showing them
how to safely cross the streets. Also discuss with them ways to
stay safe around strangers.
