Boating is a popular past time in Southwest Florida. According to
the CDC in 2002, 4,062 participants were reported injured and 750
killed in boating incidents. Among those who died,
approximately 8 out of 10 were not wearing life jackets. The
National Safe Boating Council in partnership with the U.S. Coast
Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law
Administrators want to combat these statistics with this years
campaign message -
"BOAT SMART, BOAT SAFE, WEAR IT"
