American Smoke Out Day - November 18, 2010
Approximately 434,000 Americans die from cigarette smoking in
the U.S. each year. Lung disease is America's number three
killer, responsible for one in five deaths annually.
Lung disease is not only a killer, most
lung disease is chronic. Over 35 million Americans are living
with chronic lung disease.
Smoking cost the United States over $150
billion a year in health care costs.
November 17th, 2011 is the Great
American Smoke Out day sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
The American Cancer Society sponsors this day each November to
help smokers quit cigarettes for at least one day, in hopes that
they will quit forever.
