November Tips of the Month: Quit Smoking Tips
  • Quit cold turkey.

  • Quit smoking one day at a time. Concentrate on not smoking from the time you get up until you go to bed.

  • Do not carry cigarettes.

  • Review your list of why you want to quit.

  • Drink plenty of fruit juice the first three days. It will help flush nicotine out of your system.

  • Save the money you would spend on cigarettes and treat yourself to a vacation or something you want.

  • Practice deep breathing exercises when you have a craving to smoke.

  • To prevent weight gain, eat celery or carrots rather than sweets.

  • Begin an exercise regimen. If you have not been exercising regularly consult your doctor before starting one.

  • Go places where you normally can't smoke.

  • Tell people around you that you have quit smoking.

  • Join a program to stop smoking
