Hospital
Patient Safety Indicators (PSI)
Lee Memorial
Health System has been recognized over the last two years for
its excellence in ensuring patient safety.
Hospitals who
received this honor are ranked in the top tier in patient safety
nationally, based upon a rating system using the Agency for
Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs).
The AHRQ PSIs are
a set of measures that are designed as a low cost screening tool
hospitals to use to identify potential problems and screening for
adverse events and complications that patients may experience as a
result of exposure to the health care system. These AHRQ PSIs
provide a focus for further analysis and proven improvement to
reduce errors throughout the System.
For a more
detailed explanation of each of the Hospital Patient Safety
Indicators listed below, visit
ahrq.gov web site.
Note: In order
to be consistent with current Florida hospital quality benchmarking
criteria, the six Patient Safety Indicatiors presented below are the
same six hospital AHRQ PSI measures as those publicly reported on
the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Compare
Care consumer web site.
