New Changes
Lee Memorial Health System embarked on a journey to obtain a Center of Excellence designation for bariatric surgery several years ago. We have been working diligently to meet rigorous accreditation standards from a program, physician, and facility standpoint. We are, unfortunately, withdrawing our request for this year.
We realize many people have been patiently waiting for this designation and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We encourage those of you who wish to pursue a bariatric surgical procedure that requires a fully accredited program designation to look for other available sites, some of which can be found on the American College of Surgeons Bariatric Surgery Center Network website (ACSBSCN.org). At this time, we do not have a timeline for resubmission for accreditation.
Dr. Moses Shieh
Please note that Dr. Moses Shieh has resigned from the Lee Physician Group effective July 29, 2011. We appreciate the years of service Dr. Shieh has provided for the delivery of bariatric and general surgery care needs. Please be assured Lee Memorial Health System is committed to the continued delivery of high quality surgical care for our community.
Our SunCoast Surgical Associates group will continue to provide the same high-quality surgery services. We are committed to transitioning any general surgery follow up needs to those surgeons at our Riverwalk office location, and ensuring that the continuity of care is not compromised in any way.
Our staff is also available to assist in the transition of bariatric or other surgical records to Dr. Shieh's new practice. Contact our office if you wish to have your records transferred. We require a signed authorization form to grant us permission to forward your medical information.
