Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center provides
a comprehensive neurology/neurosurgery program for patients with
central and peripheral nervous system disorders. The Neurological
Institute, within Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center,
utilizes an interdisciplinary approach in providing
state-of-the-art, compassionate, hands-on care.
The Neurological Institute includes a 31-bed
Neuroscience Unit, including an 8-bed Stroke Unit, along with
Neurologic Intensive Care Unit beds located within the
Cardiovascular Neuro Recovery Unit. Physicians, neuroscience
nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and rehabilitative therapists,
respiratory therapists and case managers all work together to
provide the patient and family with the most comprehensive care
possible.
Southwest Regional's Radiology Department has
the latest in imaging equipment, including the new light speed CT
scanner, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, SPECT scanning,
transcranial flow studies, fluoroscopy and angiography. The
hospital has a fully trained neuro radiologist on staff.
The Emergency Department at Southwest Regional
has a well-trained staff, equipped to deal with neurological
emergencies. TPA protocols are in place for "brain
attack" patients.
Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center's
Neurodiagnostic Department has the latest in digital EEG
monitoring, long-term epilepsy monitoring, 24-hour ambulatory EEG
monitoring, evoked potentials, etc. Using state-of-the-art
