The Lee Memorial Health System Trauma Center is the
only trauma center licensed by the State of Florida along
Florida's west coast in an area that stretches from
Tampa to Miami. It is designated by the State of Florida as a
level II trauma center. Established in
1993 as part of the Lee Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, it
serves a five-county area that includes Lee, Collier, Charlotte,
Hendry and Glades counties. The LMHS trauma center has seen
tremendous growth in its volume of patients served since its inception,
and now
treats more than 2000 victims of traumatic injury per year.
The Lee Memorial Health System Trauma
Center has achieved and continues to pursue clinical excellence. All LMHS
trauma surgeons have completed fellowships in trauma and surgical
critical care. Each trauma nurse and emergency department
nurse is certified in Advanced Cardiac
Life Support (ACLS), Trauma
Nurses Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nurses Pediatric
Course (ENPC). Most are either
board certified in emergency nursing or are pursuing certification.
